The Safe Space
I have been at my most creative in these last few years; learning to just enjoy the process of creating instead of worrying about how it turns out! I had such preconceived ideas about myself firmly fixed in my head from childhood. Early comparison regarding my artistic ability with that of friends made me pace myself in a box that was not arty at all. Luckily, I had dance as my wonderful companion and release during my childhood and even now you will find me sashaying away to music that fills my soul and makes me move as I cook in the kitchen. But put a paintbrush in my hand and I would find all manners of ways to avoid trying; and yet this was something I yearned to try. I finally did…having children helped uncoil that inner belief and I found that I loved it.
So I challenge you to find that creative something you have always secretly desired to do….writing…..watercolours….candle making? You will find bringing that into your life; even if its once a month is refreshingly meditative and thoroughly enjoyable. That one hour of your time dedicated to something you desire is so very important. It helps you remember who you are! It helps you realise the important of bringing that safe space into your life on a regular basis. This encourages more you time; to have fun with yourself and learn more about your inner child.
What are you waiting for?
